I didn't join the Army for "thank you's" or to enjoy Federal holidays "officially". I joined not only because of a life-long calling, but because of the events I witnessed on September 11, 2001.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the love received on these days. However, Memorial Day is for those who can't be here. The SGT Robert J. Billings', the Petty Officer Second Class Michael A. Monsoor's, Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy's, and the Corporal Patrick D. Tillman's of this World who greatly deserve to be here and enjoy the same pleasure of family, friend's and loved ones that we shared in this past weekend.
What I ask of you all instead of "thank you's" is for your continued prayer for those families who don't have the fortune of enjoying their loved ones company because they volunteered to lay their life on the line.
Like Patton so eloquently said, "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."
